PROTECTION TUBE MATERIALS
MATERIAL GRADE MAX. USE TEMP (AIR) THERMAL RMARKS
SHOCK RESISTANCE
Hexaoloy SA Sintered 3000°F Excellent Impermeable at 300°F. Maintains strength to 3000°F Excellent Corrosion Resistance, Does not creep, attacked by halides, fused caustics and ferrous metals.
Halsic I Reaction bonded 2450°F Very Good Extremely good oxidation resistance, corrosion resistant silicon infiltrated against strong acids and alkalis
Halsic R Recrystalized SiC 2900°F Very Good Reliable bonding of coatings, resistant against strong acids and alkalis
Metal Ceramic LT1 2500°F Must be preheated to 900°F Not recommended in carburizing, Nitrogen atmospheres, before immersion into molten high vacuum or in molten Aluminum metals at 2000°F Temp or above
Alumina 99.7% 3100°F Fair, preheating recommended Creeps at 2900°F
Mulite 3100°F Poor, must be preheated to 900°F Non-Ferrous Metals
